Position Overview

This is a player-coach role, with ~70–80% of your time focused on leading, coaching, and driving execution, and ~20–30% spent coding alongside the team. You'll manage a team of 3 full-time engineers, 1 QA engineer, and a fractional data analyst, and be responsible for both how the team operates and what it delivers.

You'll sit at the intersection of product, design, and customer impact, helping translate vision into thoughtful, high-quality execution. You'll play a key role in shaping the strategic direction of both the product and the company. We're looking for someone with strong product instincts who can contribute to what we build and why, and partner closely with leadership to turn company goals into clear technical and product strategy.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a high-performing engineering team, elevating quality, velocity, and ownership.
• Partner with our Chief Product Officer, Head of Design, and CEO to define problems, shape solutions, and influence roadmap and strategy.
• Drive fast, high-quality execution while contributing to critical code and architecture
• Advance our use of AI across the development lifecycle to improve speed, precision, and output.
• Strengthen our technical foundation for scale, including performance, reliability, and system design.
• Uphold a high bar for security and data protection, given the sensitivity of our product.
• Improve engineering processes, systems, and team structure as we grow.
• Help define what great engineering looks like at Remento.

Skills & Experience

• 8–10 years of software engineering experience, including prior experience leading or mentoring engineers.
• Experience building and scaling consumer products and platforms with connectivity to the marketing tech stack preferred.
• Proven ability to operate as a player-coach, balancing leadership with hands-on technical contribution.
• Strong product instincts and a desire to influence product and company direction.
• Experience working cross-functionally to define strategy, not just execute against it.
• Demonstrated ability to improve team velocity and execution in fast-paced environments.
• Strong data orientation and deep interest in applying AI to real-world workflows and improving how teams build.
• High ownership mindset with a focus on outcomes over output.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work closely with non-engineering stakeholders.
• Ability to thrive in lean, resource-constrained environments and move quickly with imperfect information.

Bonus: Experience working in early-stage startups (Seed to Series B)

Location & Work Environment

We have a strong preference for candidates based in Los Angeles, with in-person collaboration in our Culver City office. We believe working together in person is critical for speed, creativity, and building a strong team culture. We are open to candidates outside of Los Angeles who are willing to spend one week per month working in person with the team.
